Peace Garden Opening

A beautiful day.

DSCN2226

Amazing, amazing. Today we opened the Peace Garden at St Paul’s School Abwao in Kisumu Kenya. KenGen was there supporting the children with their presence, and with much needed new trees to plant…

From KenGen, Benta, Were (pronounced Where-Eh in Canadian, the Luo word for God), Veronica and Mr O planting trees!

KenGen also donated a mountain of sodas…the children will never forget this day!

Home-made toys…Class 2 line up for sodas…teacher direct traffic…and then, we pray.

I Can Dig It

Finally mastered the Jembe! In comparison to a Canadian shovel, it’s much faster and once you get into a rhythm you can quickly plow a field. DSCN2139

Working up a sweat! Madame Carolyn (Principal) and Deputy Luke – visit me with the Jambe in the Shamba!

Okay, I admit No. 1 Sacre Verte supporter, Paul O, did the hard digging today!

The secret to our success:

SundayLeafBeds

— planting the day after it rained

— covering the beds with leaves (the kind goats do not eat) to keep in moisture. . .
